Quite a departure from their earlier stuff. I wonder if the band would have continued in this vein had D. Boon not died.

As I get older, I seem to enjoy this one more and more. I still love the earlier stuff too and I think I always will, but this one has such a nice variety of sounds and a relaxing, groovy vibe to it (despite lyrically dealing with some pretty heavy stuff, at least in D. Boon's tracks) and is just a pleasure to listen to. You can really hear the Meat Puppets' influence (again, particularly on D. Boon's writing), and I think it serves the record really well. Such a shame D. died so young, but he left us with a lot of great music and he and his bandmates conducted their business and lived (and continue to live in Mike Watt's and Georgie's cases) in a way we can all take a little inspiration from.
