Biography

Michelle Dockrey is a dedicated officemouse by day, an aspiring illustrator by night, and a singer all the time. Known to her friends as "Vixy", she is the lead singer of Vixy & Tony, and formerly the lead singer of Escape Key. Raised by professional musicians, she grew up more or less steeped in music, and has been harmonizing as long as she can remember. She first encountered filk in 1996, when Matthew dragged her to a bardic filk circle at Orycon. "Trust me," he said. "You'll love this." Before the weekend was out, she'd fallen completely in love with filk and written her first song ever. Soon she and Matthew and friend Audrey Eschright had formed the filk trio Escape Key; they recorded one CD, Shadowbeast, which is still in print. After Matthew and Audrey retired from performing, Michelle joined Tony Fabris to perform as the duo Vixy & Tony.

Michelle happily lends her voice out to all her friends, asking only a pat on the head, a steady supply of tea, and an occasional chocolate bar. She can be heard on Michael Kelly's Fields of the North, Seanan McGuire's Pretty Little Dead Girl and Stars Fall Home, Adam Selzer's Clark Street Carols and his upcoming Geeks Gone Wild in Chicago, Nancy Louise Freeman's Stardust County, and Jeff and Maya Bohnhoff's current CD-in-progress.

When she's not singing or songwriting, Michelle does occasional illustration work for small online games, RPGs, and her own entertainment, and you might see her name now and then in a con art show or an Interfilk auction. She and Tony have just completed their first CD together, Thirteen. You can keep up with her various works and works-in-progress at VixyAndTony.com.
