"Woodstock" is a song by Joni Mitchell about the Woodstock Music and Art Festival of 1969. The recording by Matthews' Southern Comfort reached #1 on the UK singles chart in October 1970 (remaining there for three weeks). The recording is particularly noticeable for the fine pedal steel guitar work of band member Gordon Huntley.

Joni Mitchell wrote the song from what she had heard from then-boyfriend, Graham Nash, about the festival. She had not been there herself, since she was told by her manager that it would be more advantageous to appear on The Dick Cavett Show. She wrote the song in a hotel room in New York City, watching the reports of the festival on television.
