Biography

Martin Stehl, producer and award-winning multi-instrumentalist presents his original sophisticated debut album using blended consistent arrangements, incisive rhythms and intense melodies all infused with modern elements.

Renown musicians Torsten de Winkel (guitar) and Frank Spaniol (saxophone), are featured, along with many guest players who display their exceptional improvisations to ennoble this unique recording.

Looking back, everything started in the early 80´s in Frankfurt Germany, when Martin made his debut as a drummer. Listening to a vast variety of music, he soon became captivated by the sound of Jazz-Fusion. As a member of his award-winning first fusion band Ghoa-Concept, he was able to contribute his first compositions, which at this time he was already playing the keyboards. Besides touring Tokyo with Ghoa-Concept, he has toured over Europe with many different formations and has played live as an opening act for the Bluesbrothers and John Mayall. He has also accompanied Patricia Kaas in one of Germans most famous TV shows, and performed with Torsten de Winkel and Kai Eckhardt.

Always fond of well-made songs, his earliest interest was in creating and producing songs in the popmusic genre for over a decade, while becoming more relevant as he illustrated his production style under his alias name of Steely M. Using this name for original commercial compositions as well for diversity production tasks, he was also involved with Frank Farians acts like Boney M and No Mercy to create dance compatible remixes. For years he has kept busy creating music productions for CAPP Records which is based in San Rafael, California.

Reminiscent of his early beginnings, Martin again devotes his energy to instrumental music as the focus of his current work. In late 2008, his debut album became available offering exclusively original compositions in the genre of Jazz-Fusion.

„Saxophone lovers and audio-gourmets alike are rewarded as melodic jazz compositions flow gently into their ears, while indulging in a relaxed jazz-fusion ambiance.“ (Newspaper review: Hessische/Niedersächsische Allgemeine © 2008)
