“High On Life” tells a story of living the fast life with either a friend or a lover, though the lyrics leave this open to interpretation.
First publicly unveiled at his last Tomorrowland 2018 set for the festival’s second weekend and released shortly thereafter, the song was first announced in an Instagram post four days prior to the song’s release.
A return to form for Garrix after a series of more pop-influenced hits such as “Ocean” and “So Far Away,” “High On Life” features progressive house beats over soaring vocals from BONN.
It’s the first contribution by the Swedish composer Kristoffer Fogelmark as BONN, for he previously donated his talent under his real name. At the time of this song’s release, Fogelmark is best known for his vocals on “More Than You Know.”
