Multistability is the sound of double helixes unwinding and retwisting at high speed.

yeah im pretty sure UL8 was a max/msp patch, judging by his description of the programs themselves, probably with some ambisonic panning plugins.

SOA sounds like it could've been a Warp album in 1995, which is a very good thing

"Atavism and Multistability are entirely FM" He mentions some things about how he/they work in this interview: http://www.factmag.com/2011/03/22/mark-fell-vortex-studies/ He's not really being specific about what synth he's using but my guess is that Multistability is mostly FS1R. UL8 I'm not sure. Possibly MSP. I spoke to him after an SND gig and he told me all pitched sounds on Atavism were made with FS1R. As it sounds pretty similar to Multistability it's probably similar patches on said synth. I think he mentioned they use lots of manipulated drum machines samples as well. Those are quite easy to spot though. :)

That's the rumor, i think. I own an fs1r myself. I could see some multistability sounds coming out of it.
