Biography
The Mario Galaxy Orchestra is a group of approximately 50 or so members organized by Super Mario Galaxy sound team to record the 28 orchestral tracks composed for the game. With music composed by Koji Kondo and Mahito Yokota, the adventurous score was recorded in late August 2007.
Kondo often asked much of the orchestra, such as playing at strange tempos in order to best sync with Mario's natural movements or incorporating sound effects into the orchestra scores themselves. The attention to detail paid off, and the soundtrack has since received much acclaim from both fans and critics alike, notably winning "Best Design in Audio" from Edge Magazine.
