"Posthuman" is the seventh track on the 1998 release Mechanical Animals. It makes several references to past presidents, such as John F. Kennedy and his wife Jackie O, as well as Abraham Zapruder, the man who ultimately shot the most complete visual recording of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, while videotaping the presidential motorcade through Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963.

"Posthuman" was made available for streaming on the band's website before "Mechanical Animals" was released, making it the first song off the album to be heard by the public.

The voice that says "all that glitters is cold" was said by Manson's then girlfriend, Rose McGowan.

After the song, a digitized voice announces to a roaring crowd "Ladies and Gentleman, Omega and the Mechanical Animals" which leads into the next song, "I Want to Disappear".

A similar voice can also be heard introducing Omega and the Mechanical Animals on the live version of "Rock Is Dead" found on "The Last Tour on Earth"
