“Fly Away” is a song recorded by Mariah Carey for her sixth studio album, "Butterfly" (1997). Written by Mariah Carey, David Morales, Elton John & Bernie Taupin, produced by Mariah Carey.
She is simply showing a image of growth. A butterfly starts off as a caterpillar and than grows into a beautiful butterfly as we all know today.
Around this time Mariah was going through the ending of her marriage to Sony executive producer Tommy Mottola. She was growing from all of the bad things she experienced in the relationship and was ready to elevate from the situation and be free.
