Makeshift Truth
Makeshift Truth are a new band with a long history and a blistering live show. They are a band that after only 4 shows were being asked to headline gigs due to their Music, Energetic Live Show and Fast Built Fan base. After Mike D was kicked out of Mongrel (Hondo MacLean/The Future) he was asked to hook up with Oliver, Kevin and the now Funeral for a Friend Guitarist Kris Coombs-Roberts. The band PH-14 formed, a band that after a while ran out of steam with the remaining members (Mike, Oliver and Kris) starting the now legendary January Thirst with Johnny Phillips (Mongrel/ Funeral for a Friend), Matthew Evans (Dignity Dies First/Funeral for a Friend) and Kerry Roberts (Funeral for a Friend). Oliver soon left to pursue his dream of becoming a music teacher, not long after recording a track for the UK/HC (Blackfish Records) compilation album. Mike also quit because he was unhappy with the band. Many years later after all watching their friends bands Funeral for a Friend, Hondo MacLean/The Future and Bullet for my Valentine play bigger and bigger shows Kevin, Kerry and Oliver started writing new music to start a new band. After a chance find on Myspace Mike and Oliver got in touch again and started to talk about the old days and Mike was asked to try out for the new band.
The band wanted to try the two singer format that January Thirst used but with more a melodic side, so the guys got in Mike’s good friend Steve to scream while Mike sang and this is where they enlisted bassist Antony into the band. They then set about putting together a live set but problems hit when Mike took a job in England and couldn’t make it to the writing sessions. But after a few weeks Mike came back to Wales to carry on with the band as he new this was where his heart was. However Kerry and Steve both left within months of each other due to their family commitments and because they didn’t want to hold the band back, then the boys asked Ant to leave the band and then after a short seach enlisted new bassist Simon. So after these set backs the boys stuck to their guns and carried on as a four piece and wrote a blistering and intense set of songs that they set about playing to the world.

Makeshift Truth have also been called one of the most energetic bands to hit the Welsh and UK music scene in years, they have also be likened to a melodic Sick of it all hanging out with Snapcase while drinking with Haste
