“Diablo” was originally posted on SoundCloud prior to the release of "Faces". The mixtape version has a slightly different arrangement.
The beat is produced by Mac himself, under his producer pseudonym Larry Fisherman. Mac continues the jazzy sound of Faces, sampling “In a Sentimental Mood” by Duke Ellington and John Coltrane.
The original cover art from the SoundCloud release is an art piece by Panamanian painter Quintin Aguilar Mejía, made in 2000. It depicts a ritual named Congo, in which the devil is hunted on Ash Wednesday and then baptized.
