Someone's been listening to Oasis, I think, and it's resulted in a very welcome new MGMT sound.

it’s reallly nice. i’m not sold on the one tinycovenant bit that sounds beatlesy but i can live with it. really great lyrics and atmosphere otherwise

would also segue beautifully into “congratulations,” but they don’t tour anymore, oh well

I get it but I seen them live in 2010 and I remember telling my friend “this could be the biggest rock band in the world” obviously that didn’t pan out but this song feels like a fulfilment of the promise I seen watching them on the Congratulations tour as a teenager. I’ve been waiting since then for them to make a song like this, and it makes me happy

This is not only one of their best songs ever and I say this as someone who seen them live on the Congratulations tour but it is also one of the best songs I have ever heard

period! it feels like an instant indie classic, and like a coming-of-age movie distilled into song form

FOR REAL! the anthemic vibes of OS and LDA, elements of the bizarre neo-psychedelia of self-titled, and of course a heaping portion of the sun-kissed psychedelic rock gorgeousness of—one of my fav albums of all time mind you—Congratulations 🥹
