getting big Violet Street vibes from "April". hope they explore that sound a bit more on 'But I'll Wait for You'. definitely feels like a more organic progression of their sound. although i did enjoy their last record, it fell a bit short to me in comparison to their previous efforts, especially following such a remarkable album like Violet Street. looking forward to it!

super weird to me that Mt Washington is the most popular Hummingbird track. was it in a show or something. Anyway this is the best indie rock band of the whole crop of late 2000s/early 2010s indie rock. one of the best bands going, really

I find apart from Gorilla Manor, which had quite a few great songs, nothing else really impressed me much since then. A few good songs on every albums, but nothing more.

It's pretty ridiculous that Last.fm has no feature to hint that an album you've listened to over 300 times has a new album out. I frankly felt Sunlit Youth was generic compared to their two previous. They seem to do something interesting in a few songs on this new album, hope it grows.

Violet Street is really good and this band has yet to release anything that isn't great, very nice. They also completely kill it live

"the only heirs" is an interesting track and interesting choice for local natives. I'm inclined to say it's just a leftover from the Sunlit Youth sessions. but what if it's not? then they seem to be trending toward a more pop sound. those looking for the folky goodness of Gorilla Manor might be out back lol.

Yeah, Gorilla Manor is an album that still sounds really fresh from start to finish every time I revisit it. Its strength is in how they crafted every single song to sound different than one another. You kinda don't get that with the second and third album. They're still enjoyable, just less so.
