In 1977, the soundtrack for the film was released.
According to William Ruhlmann, in the soundtrack album, the prominent voices are those of Liza Minnelli and the saxophone played by Robert De Niro in the film. He noted that musical supervisor Ralph Burns played a crucial role in recreating the styles of big bands and traditional pop music.
The title track became a classic, and the single reached position number 104 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The soundtrack album itself reached position number 50 on the Billboard 200 chart.
In terms of critical reception, the website AllMusic gave the soundtrack a four-star rating out of five.
