Not fond of this album but I do like that she was exploring ideas that'd lead to HAQQ

Whatever the fuck they were trying to do, it worked out in the end. A tad bit boring vocals at the moment, and it goes slightly too long for my taste, but tasteful it is. The only main gripe with the album that i have is the production, which is muddy as all hell. The sound is there, but this is nowhere near as clear as Aesthethica or HAQQ, hell even Renihilation. Still, it sounds unique and little bands would even dare to aproach such sound after their previous work. The glitch and midi parts are the best in my opinion, they just capture the moment perfectly.

Revisited this album after a long time, and holy fuck. Honestly I feel like this album was way ahead of its time.

"THIS IS SO UNORTHODOX AND HASN'T BEEN DONE BEFORE" Fanisk did a lot of similar stuff on noontide in 2003 and Murmuure in 2009, both did it better because they were professionally mixed and well composed. The only thing that's /really/ experimental is the mixing and use of glitch with both being obnoxious.

The Ark Work has solid ideas, I like the way a lot of the guitars can sound, I like the Branca influences in some of the structuring choices; but outside of that the album doesn't do enough to bring out the full potential of these sounds and doesn't give them the focus needed for them to be interesting. There's too much going on with all the weaker elements for the strong points to come through and there's too much weakness, poor writing and vague pretension for any of the concepts offered to have any genuine meaning. You can fuck off telling me it's hard to have an understanding of Hunter, it's easy as fuck to understand him because it's the same regurgitated and milktoast concepts of ascension I can hear in so many starting out philosophy students and so many boring art pieces, the fact is that these concepts aren't new or interesting and they aren't enough to strengthen the album

There's one thing I'll agree with you on, it's ultimately my opinion vs yours and there's nothing I can do to invalidate your enjoyment of the album. The thing is, I was never arguing anything even remotely close to that, my argument was that it's a conceptually weak album and that what concepts and ideas it brings have been tried before. The Ark Work has a lot of unique elements and it's definitely got a lot of aspects that deserve more fleshing out, but to claim that the concepts it works with are completely original is empirically wrong and your attempt to throw up all this up with excuses and pseudo-intellectual aesthetic choices doesn't make the concepts stronger, the sounds more interesting or the synthesis of them any less contrived and misplaced. If your opinion is an enjoyment of The Ark Work more power to you but if you're factual statement is that it's well thought out and well put together then you're fundamentally wrong, no matter how much you try and gaslight me.

Honestly though I'm done with this, the only thing I'll concede is that it's not entirely devoid of experimentation; just stop building up the quality and individuality of an extremely flawed album.

If the point of black metal is making music that's as disgusting and unpleasant as possible, then these people must be as trve as it it gets, 'cause the album is probably the most annoying and god-awful crap I've heard in a long time

I really don't like this album. It makes me uncomfortable like being in an old person's house or having to watch a tv show about antiquing.

These guys are definitely one of the few bands out there that are actually bringing new ideas to the table and I think this one is a really well crafted and, most of all, highly original album. There are a couple of moments in which things didn't really come out as good as they could have, specially performance-wise, but overall it's a really great release. If these guys keep moving in this direction and actually improve what needs to be improved I have a feeling their next album will be an absolute game changer.
