Biography

Linda Draper is an American country singer-songwriter from New York City.

With a father being a professional classical guitarist, and her mother playing music too, Draper's first musical steps were at a church choir. She learned to play the guitar at high school campus and wrote her first song at the age of 15. She later attended the SUNY Purchase Music Conservatory and then ventured to eclectic genres, such as the Renaissance Faire. She has been embraced by the music scene in New York City known for artists such as Beck and Michelle Shocked.

She released her debut album Ricochet in 2001 and it became well-known especially for the track Airplane. A follow-up, Snow white Trash Girl, was released the next year. Planting Seeds Records contacted her after reading an interview and signed her for a new record in 2003: Patchwork. Her latest album, One Two Three Four, was released on the same label in 2005.

Her early albums were produced by Kramer, of the former Shimmy Disc label, who has worked with Galaxie 500, Low, Sonic Youth and Lou Reed. She sent him a demo of Hello? in 2000 and after a meeting he recorded her subsequent music.

She has performed at New York City Clubs as well as on both national and international festivals. She has been compared to Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez and Nick Drake, but her eerie voice also reminds of Joanna Newsom.

In 2007 she co-produced her next LP "Keepsake" with Major Matt (Olive Juice Music) . In 2009, Draper returned with her sixth LP (Planting Seeds Records), called "Bridge and Tunnel" , produced by Brad Albetta (Martha Wainwright, Teddy Thompson).

She has subsequently self-released "Edgewise" (2013), "Modern Day Decay" ‎(2016), "Patience And Lipstick" (2022),
