Still awesome. Can't say the same for anything else in their discography. I wish they had done more of this style.

One of my earliest Metal albums. A friend (R.I.P.) turned me on to a few of the songs ("This Time," "River Runs Red" and "My Eyes") were available in Real Audio format from an LOA fan site and I loved them and listened for them constantly until I picked up the tape (I'm really dating myself now; as if the Real Audio mention wasn't enough). Thought it was one of the greatest things in the world then and it still retains a lot of its appeal and power, although some will find the concept (the dramatic interludes, mainly) laughable. Admittedly the mother's voice is pretty ridiculous and they're a bit overlong both individually and combined, but they're so ingrained in my consciousness at this point that listening without them seems "wrong" to me. I later got Ugly and that's a good record but never grabbed me the way this one did. I got Soul Searching Sun when it was new and didn't think much of it at all, which led to my moving on from my brief LOA love affair but still love this one.

Yeah, the interludes are a little 'silly' but it still hits me in the feels whenever I listen even so. :(

Such a fantastic album. They had such a unique sound on this one. I get a lot of Type O Negative/Danzig/Prong vibes. The guitar tone is fucking massive and those vocals slay.

It took a long time until I discovered this record for me . I think it was 2001 or of 2002. But it really blows my mind. Amazing record with really good and emotional songs.

proud owner of this master piece. worth every penny! Keith had one of the strangest vocal then in the 90's on this one, that built that doomy vibe with the lyrics, ah but it wont happen ever again, a shame... The other albums are still good, more alternative and grunge like, and his clear vocal singing is fine too, but it is nothing special when you compare it with RRR.
