The sheer level of optimistic resign implicated by the upbeat vocal register is nothing short of electrifying. When covering a subject that you could ultimately recognize as devastating; facing it with nothing but acceptance and endurance is inspiring. Perhaps I'm entirely wrong with that sentiment pertaining to artistic intent, but, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. As such: I see it as formulating a cathartic outlet as a means to cope with hardship and self-ambivalence, rather than merely creating a bright-sounding song with depressive lyrics to uphold the trope of being "deceptively" melodic and catchy.

This was the soundtrack to my first-year university hijinks in 2003–2004. What a great song.
