Biography

Experimental sounds, full of textures and dynamics, but keeping their roots in Post Rock/Metal. That’s one of the main reasons that made Labirinto become one of the greatest names of the genre in South America. They had made several tours in North America, Brazil and Europe, performed in some great festivals that embrace the genre, including Dunk!Festival in Belgium, the biggest Post-Rock event in the world where the band performed for the second time in 2015. Their first time was in 2013, and they were the first band from South America to be invited to the festival.

Hitting the 11 year mark between playing and recording, they had the honor to sharing the stage with great names like God is an Astronaut, MONO, Amenra, Alcest, Stephen O O’Malley, Mouse on the Keys, The Ocean, Jakob, Year Of No Light, Swervedriver and many others.

Throughout his career, some of the works have been released by some foreign labels, which ones are ConSouling Sounds (Belgium), Oxide Tones (Germany), Pirate Ship Records (USA) and Brazilian Dissenso Records, responsible for his debut album in 2010, the acclaimed “Anatema”, the EP “Kadjwýnh” and the latest single “Masao”. The split Labirinto & Thisquietarmy, was elected by Brazilian journalist Fabio Massari as one of the five best 2013 releases.

After almost a hundred gigs in 14 foreign countries, and very well qualified reviews by national and international specialized media like “The Guardian”, “Rolling Stone”, along others – Labirinto is now one of the top names in the experimental / instrumental Brazilian scene.

After an extensive tour in Europe last year, they started the recording of the awaited second full lenght, counting with the production of the great sound engineer Billy Anderson, known for his works with Melvins, Neurosis, Fantomas, Swans, amongst others. This record will come out on the second half of 2016.
