I saw Komeda live once. I was terribly drunk. I made a fool of myself. I kept shouting for Can songs. My mind was probably at a different concert somewhere in Germany in 1972. Then I threw up. I was young.

Very different music. The chord progressions are similar and the lead singers sound kind of similar, but Komeda is more lounge and bubblegum (which are both very good things) and Stereolab is more psychedelic and drone-y (which are also good things.) In short, both bands are very good in different ways, and that's totally acceptable.

They are definitely different than stereolab (IMO). Monster drumming and generally a little more joyful. Can't imagine Stereolab doing a song like curious.

Komeda is a different genre than Stereolab. Their vocalists sound alike, that's all.

Saludos.

I don't think Komeda sounds like Stereolab, it's quite more pop, happy and less complicated than the groop. Despite that, looks like that almost everybody that is into Stereolab is into Komeda too. I like both. If I had to choose between them I would choose Stereolab without even think about it, but Komeda is fine in my book too.

A Simple Formality is so damn catchy..something about the song (and basically all of What Makes it Go) moves me in a way I can't quite describe...
