I've loved their first 3 albums for as long as I could remember. I decided to give the rest of their discography a re-listen, and I think this might be their worst. Pyro is great, Radioactive is good, but the rest is just... so forgettable. On their first 3 records, it didn't seem like there was much filler at all (maybe on Because of the Times there was some, but it was decent filler). This seems like 95% forgettable filler. Luckily, the two that came after this were a step up. Was hoping I would change my opinion on this one, but dang, it's as bad as I remembered.

if you don't want to be cynical you could say the uncertainty of being thrust into the limelight as sudden mainstream stars scared them back to their humble americana roots but i just can't see it that way

although this album has grown on me it's kinda sad seeing how big they got in the uk and then as soon as america accepted them they drop the facade of indie festival band and put out the most accept me america album they could make

Great album. Probably my favourite from KoL. It only got so much hate because it came out only a short time after 'Only By The Night' was such a huge success and the mainstream was burnt out on them, from late 2008 to pretty much the entirety of 2009 they were everywhere. It's classic tall poppy syndrome, Once a band becomes successful it's cool to hate them and tear them down.

It took some time, but finally I've realized how beautiful this album is... [3] a return to their roots. [2] tottally agree!
