Bette Davis Eyes is a song by Kim Carnes written by Jackie DeShannon and Donna Weiss. Released April 9, 1981, as a single and on her album "Mistaken Identity" on EMI, it was originally sung by DeShannon ( "Bette Davis Eyes") and didn't do well. When Carnes recorded her version of the song, it became a commercial success, spending 9 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. The song is based on the actress, Bette Davis. When Davis heard the song, she wrote Carnes, Weiss, and DeShannon a letter to thank them. After Carnes earned Grammy wins off the song, she sent Davis roses.
