Biography

Kid City were an American indie rock band from Portland, Maine, active from 1995-1999. They began as a loose collective of high school musicians (and non-musicians) that recorded their songs to the onboard condenser mics of old cassette players. Later, the lineup solidified as a trio with Alex Merrill and Ned Meiners playing guitars, and Peter Wannemacher on drums. The closest thing to a formal release the band ever had was a split seven inch with The Influence of Atmosphere, another band of high school kids from southern Maine.

Kid City's last official show was in Portland in July of 2009; their set consisted of a back to front cover of Guided by Voices' "Bee Thousand."

Ned went on to play in So So Many White White Tigers and The Hospitals, while Alex played in Sex with Girls. Peter now works for Forrester research in Boston. Alex and Pete occasionally play in a band called the Throwers.
