“Mr. Morale” is the sixteenth track on disc two of Kendrick Lamar’s fifth and final studio album with Top Dawg Entertainment, "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers", and the sixteenth track overall. It features Tanna Leone and Sam Dew on the bridge and interlude, respectively.
The song covers such themes as generational trauma and excess. Lamar cites R. Kelly and Oprah Winfrey, both of whom are known for their proximity to abuse. It also closes with a quote from German writer and philosopher Eckhart Tolle.
The intro is sampled from a YouTube video titled "Dallas Cowboys look pathetic vs the Seahawks" posted by user thedallascowboyshow on Sept. 16, 2012 in response to the Cowboys 27-7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
