Kelli Dayton, also known as Kelli Ali (a name she took to honor her father, Michael Ali) born June 30, 1974, is a UK female vocalist most recognized for being lead singer for the trip-hop group Sneaker Pimps. Though she was featured prominently in both the songs and the music videos for the album Becoming X (rising the group to stardom following the release of the hit single “6 Underground”), she was released from the group in 1998 when they decided to do vocals for their own songs.

Though fans were shocked to hear this (many found her unique voice to be the best part of the album), Kelli moved onto a solo career, starting with Tigermouth in 2003. With this album, she moved from trip-hop to a more dreampop sound. The album featured hits such as “Sunlight in the Rain” and “Kids,” which featured ex-The Doors drummer John Densmore. She toured with Garbage in 2003 and released a follow-up album, Psychic Cat, in mid-2004. The second album was more of a return to Kelli’s rock and roll roots, and featured musician turned author Tony O’Neill on keyboards. Later, she was featured as vocalist on the Dropz’s album Sweet Oblivion.

Kelli was originally part of a group called Psycho Drama before joining the The Lumieres (as their songwriter, singer, and lead guitarist) a few years later. They only had one major single: “Cinder Hearts”.

As of April 2006, she is in Japan recording and writing tracks with Hoshino Hidehiko from Buck-Tick and Cube Juice for the band Dropz.
