I think if you were to replace Mansion Song + I've got a secret with her old songs/demo's Take 'Em Back, Navy Taxi, Old dances and possible an original acoustic version of Pickpocket with the guitar, this album may have just had the popularity of Made Of Bricks. Either way, with or without, I love this album with all my heart.

If I could love an album, then it would be this one. One of my fav albums of 2010.

"Paris" and "Take Me to a Higher Plane" are divine. They both should be singles (but apparently they won't).

Really great album. Had to grow on me a bit but there are some really, really stellar tracks.

This is a great album. You have to understand that true artists aren't cookie cutter performers. Their style can change at any given time from an array of influences, mostly life. I feel it's a great album. It's a brutally honest album. You love it or you hate it.

Sorry, but Kate Nash and Metallica are matchless. I can't see how she grown in this album, really. I think that she is testing new things in her career. Doesnt mean a growth, necessary... So, i guess she tested thinks that worked, and other things that failed completly. That's why have so many songs that sounds familiar from others artists here. I don't see it as an album sicer and complex, but an album that seeks a new identity for her.

Apparently, it's different. She's grown too. Made of Bricks is awesome, but we didn't need another Made Of Bricks, she's given us something new. Accept it or just shut up and continue to listen only to Made Of Bricks. [2]

After listening to MBFIY for a few times I found an interesting way to look at the album and its relation to MOB: It's like "Ride the lightning" compared to "Kill em all" (Both from Metallica in case you don't know ;-) ). MOB/Kill em all is the first album which hits you because you didn't expect something like this, it's raw, it's catchy, it's got a few songs which immediately get stuck in your head. So of course you except a lot from the next album! MBFIY/Ride the lightning are musically more complex, haven't got songs that get stuck in your head immediately (well, maybe one song: Do-wah-doo/Kate, For whom the bell tolls/Metallica), got more complex lyrics - so the album takes a while to grow on to you. But when you've listened to it for a while you realize that this is great stuff - and it's more enjoyable to listen to in the long run (that's what I hope for MBFIY!). AND: Kate's next album will be epic - expect nothing less than her "Master of puppets" :-) Oh well, enough for now...
