The space created on this song is so profound - like echoes and echoes of a time gone by.

One of her heaviest songs. I always stand in awe at people laughing at the washing machine part. [2]

This song is so misunderstood. Who says the washing machine she's singing about is the regular household appliance you'd expect and not Mrs. Bartolozzi herself...?

Was just reading this in an interview and remembered some comments about the out of tune vocals on this song... Kate: "I don't believe in perfection. For instance in 'Mrs Bartolozzi' the voice plays with the piano. There's a part I really hate. But as part of the whole song, I couldn't get the same emotional quality on the other takes. This version is a bit out of tune, I don't pronounce the words the way I wished but the emotion I was looking for is there." Somehow I think it actually adds to the song, perfect to me!

It's one of these songs that don't grab my attention at first listen but after couple more my interest in them begins to grow and finally I fall in love with them :) . Mrs Bartolozzi is definitely atypical song but at the same time I find it honest and moving. It's both - very lyrical and very poetic and it beautifully captures the emotions one feels in time following tragic loss when there is an echo of lost loved one in every thing around.

A bit strained close to 3:50, but I still love this song and adore Kate Bush. It's not about a perfect voice, it's about the emotion, how genuine it feels, and how it communicates to others. Kate B is a master at it and so I can't get enough of her.

I share heaventree22 and Deffie's interpretations. Anyways, brilliant overlooked song.

for me its about loss but loss within a relationship. memory and loss within domestic drudgery. memory of sex. i think it links well with how to be invisible.

One of the top 5 Kate songs ever. Brilliant. Anyone who thinks this song is about a washing machine is a total dolt.
