I don't know if it's the mixing or Kate but her voice sounds very low in my opinion. I feel like if you are gonna do this kind of album you should take a step further and actually rework the songs with different instruments or arrangements. A missed opportunity.

I honestly used to borderline sympathise for delusional stans that enjoyed this collection, and now I'm head over heels in love with it. I think I needed to leave it alone for as many years I have to let it breathe and get over the initial dissapointment. I would even go as far to say that the Moments Of Pleasure rendition is actually better here! Which is saying a fucking lot

It's not that it's bad, or even okay. It's quite good rly. Just not "best of the year" good as she's been using us throughout her career. And it really might be her most "disposable" work, in a way. Something here screams "for true fans (or true beginners)". If you think of it as a warm-up to 50 Words or a "live" album, it gets better, tho.

Mixed feelings ranging from "I guess some of the tracks are okay" to "Why, oh, why??" This sort of thing seems to be a trend. See also: Everclear, Return to Santa Monica.

So much hatin' on the re-recorded Rubberband Girl. Chill out mary, Kate was just having some drunken karaoke fun.

I think all of them except Top of the City and Rubberband Girl have something that makes them either better than the original version or different enough that both versions are equally amazing. Top of the City sounds the same to me, and Rubberband Girl... well, I'll pretend this album has ten tracks.

Ok, my two cents. After hearing 'Deeper Understanding' (which I found majorly disappointing) I was nervous about listening to the full album. In short, I actually enjoyed the 'Red Shoes' rerecording (bar the title track and 'Rubberband Girl'), especially 'Moments of Pleasure' with those lovely choral parts. On the other hand I'm far from crazy over 'The Sensual World' tracks. Maybe it's because I adore the original so much that these just pale in comparison. Some of them are listenable to be fair, but 'Deeper Understanding' is a complete hash and 'Flower of The Mountain' is equally as painful. Still, there are some really nice tracks on TRS front. Her 'new' mature voice suits some of those soulful songs very well. Also, I love the inner album art. Very nice.

I definitely LOVE the new version of "Lily" and meanwhile I think the new "Deeper Understanding" is much better than the original. And, of course, "Moments of Pleasure" is absolutely wonderful. And yes: we still have the originals. Don´t forget about that ! :-)

It's weird how some of the new renditions are SO good and some of them are, well, Rubberband Girl.
