The highly anticipated third album from Australian progressive rock band Karnivool is here. An initially confronting album featuring a new rhythm biased sound has left many fans of sound awake off balance. This album is very much progressive and shifts away from the alternative harmony based sound that listeners of Karnivool have become accustomed to.
A definite progression in sound has occurred with vocals and lead guitar being lowered in the mix leaving more room for the other band members. The question has to be asked is it a natural progression or a case of self indulgence on behalf of the band.
Featuring many tracks over 5 minutes this albums strengths are in its subtleties as hard as they may be to find for hardened sound awake fans.
