Biography

Somewhere in the urban chaos of the East Village, New York City's hipster-area, lives Kap10kurt, programmer and musician. Originally from switzerland, he has been making music with a 4-Track cassette recorder and an Atari computer for many years before ending up with a proper studio set-up. Kap10kurt's music spans a number of genres including electro, gameBoy noise, 80's new wave and 70's synthesizer funk. Conceptualizing and building his trademark sound, the vintage synthesizer collector focuses on extremely rhythmic and muscular basslines and strong drumbeats that fly straight into your ears like blazing starfighters.
More than apparent in many of the Kaptain's recordings is his immense attention to detail and sound, which brought him work as a programmer and engineer for major stars like Moby, Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan and Cindy Lauper as well as remixes for the Bravery, Dave Gahan, Ocelot, Grafton Primary and BluemanGroup.
His debut release was on techno dj John Selway's label MemoryBoy. The single "Die Sleeping", featuring Columbia recording artist Nellie McKay, was part of the critically acclaimed compilation series "The Sound Of Young New York" and enjoyed spins all over the world.
More recently the Kap10Kurt dancefloor destroyer 'Dangerseekers' has been included on the Kitsune Udon complilation in japan. 'Dangerseekers' also reached #1 for several weeks on the Micromusic download chart and was released as a 12' picture disc featuring remixes by Shinichi Osawa, Tepr and Rolf Honey (Rolf Z & Yuksek) which gets great reviews and was featured in the weekly Top10 of Xlr8r and receives Blog-love from Fluokids and Bigstereo among many others.
His live show combines an electronic drummer and Kurt head banging with a Roland SH 101 keytar taped to a guitar strap. He also occasionally plays synths with a fine band some of you may have heard of… Depeche Mode, as well as works as a programmer for Dave Gahan, Moby, Cindy Lauper, and countless other cool folks.
