After the major studio releases of two Joy Division albums and the sad, tragic suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis, fans and record labels everywhere began honoring everything that made Ian Curtis, well… Ian Curtis. From his seductive baritone voice to his songwriting style. Even though there were only two studio releases from Joy Division, there were still many compilation albums released, this being one of the bestselling for the song selection.
It was released as a companion to the New Order compilation of the same name, released a year earlier, and much like it is a compilation of non-album singles, as well as some tracks from EPs or Samplers that were never released on studio albums.
