Josu De Solaun (born October 27, 1981) is a Spanish classical music pianist and winner of both the First Prize at the I European Union Piano Competition held in Prague, and the First Grand Prize at the XV José Iturbi International Piano Competition. He is the first pianist from Spain to have ever been awarded the coveted prize in the nearly 30 years of its existence. He has resided in New York City since moving there in 1999, at the age of 17, and is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with both Nina Svetlanova (1999 - 2005) and Horacio Gutiérrez (2005 - 2009). He has also been mentored by pianists Joaquin Achucarro, Albert Lotto and Edna Golandsky.
He has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra (formerly known as the Czech Radio Orchestra), Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra, RTVE Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta de Valencia, Orchestra Sinfonica della Provincia di Bari in Italy, Monterey Symphony Orchestra of California, and under conductors such as Constantine Orbelian, Theodore Kuchar, Yaron Traub, Francesco Angelico, Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez, Ramón Tébar, Max Bragado-Darman, and Yuri Krasnapolsky.
