A PJ Harvey / John Parish album (released 30 Mar 09 on Island). Their follow up to 1996's Dance Hall at Louse Point. Recording was in Bristol & Dorset, with Flood mixing. This album is made up of ten new songs. Music written by Parish (who also plays most of the instruments) and lyrics by Harvey.
The first single from the album is Black Hearted Love which is described as having 'anthemic grunge-pop guitars.'
The album has been described by journalist John Harris, as "…mischievous, deadly serious, elegant and poetic, and possessed of a brutal power – it is doubtful that you will hear a record as brimming with creative brio and musical invention this year…"
Running order and tracks missing above:
1. Black Hearted Love
2. Sixteen, Fifteen, Fourteen
3. Leaving California
4. The Chair
5. April
6. A Woman A Man Walked By / The Crow Knows Where All The Little Children Go
7. The Soldier
8. Pig Will Not
9. Passionless, Pointless
10. Cracks in the Canvas
Universal-Island Records Ltd. also seems to've uploaded A Woman A Man Walked By (streamable), as a PJ Harvey solo affair - odd!
