The critically-acclaimed song won numerous awards, including the 2005 Grammy Award for Song of the Year at the 47th Grammy Awards. An extended blues version of "Daughters" was included on the John Mayer Trio's 2005 live album Try!, and an acoustic live version can be found on Mayer's 2008 live album/DVD Where the Light Is.

John Clayton Mayer was born October 16, 1977, in Fairfield, Connecticut, USA, and started playing guitar at 13 after being inspired by a Stevie Ray Vaughan tape his neighbor gave him. In 1998 he moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he refined his skills and gained a following.
