I'm not normally keen on live albums, but this one is a clear exception to that rule.

Personally I wouldn't say this is his best record but I do think it has his best playing on it.

One of the greatest live albums ever. Friend taped it for me and I wore that sucker down to the bone.

"I wasn't too satisfied with the Band Of Gypsies album. If it had been up to me I would have never put it out. From a musician's point of view it was not a good recording and I was out of tune on a few things. Not enough preparation went into it and it came out a bit 'grizzly' - we all felt shaky. The thing was we owed the record company an album and they were pushing us - so here it is..." Jimi on Melody Maker Magazine

@PartSanCTG- I don't know about that, Billy Cox was a bit more funk than Noel Redding, something that I enjoyed, but both are great in their own right. Spectacular album, one of my favorites.

I don't know... I can't say there's much of a difference between bassists, but I prefer Mitch Mitchell's flashy, hyperactive drumming.

jimi is my #1 fav artist ever .. this album is so amazing. the number of sounds he's able to create and control simultaneously in 'machine gun' is just mind-blowing. probably it's a tie for me btwn this and berkeley in terms of fav live recordings. he was UP and ON, baby!

I don't get high anymore, but this music makes me wanna smoke a fatty and trip somethin serious. It must've been something unforgettable to see him live. You can close your eyes with this album and feel like you're right there, though, it's so amazing. Nobody could touch him.
