I remember buying this album. Loved it. Didn't catch on for a whole year. I bought it as birthday gifts waiting for it to blow up. Almost one year to the day of it coming out it started to get huge. I miss the 90's where word of mouth was just as worthy as youtube.

It is a shame that you only listen to this CD and one other song that's not from this album. This may have been a pretty epic album and maybe Jewel has strayed from this sound, but if you think about it, 0304 is like a pop version of this album. She's made other great lyrical albums whether it's folk, pop, or country.

@scottdoesntknow: you just exactly wrote what I had been thinking about Jewel. After Spirit I lost her. Would she herself once regret the course she followed? Or were the first two records unlike her? I can't imagine.

Her greatest accomplishment, imo; nothing she did after this was nearly as raw or lyrically stunning. And after "Spirit", everything went to absolute hell. I saw a music video for "Goodbye Alice In Wonderland" some odd years back on TV, and I remember thinking "What in the FUCK happened?" She was one of the most impressive folk singers at the time, and her music was brilliant. It's kind of depressing when I really think about it.

Re-listened to it after years of loving it when it first came out... was amazed how much I really disliked most of it. :( Guess it has not aged well with me. Still like Who Will Save, Foolish Games, Don't, Morning Song, and Angel.

What we call human nature in actuality is human habit. <3 always her best, most inspired record

I agree. No matter how many albums Jewel puts out, and how wonderful they are, Pieces of You will always be my favorite.
