A composer, piano player, actor, script writer and comedian, Jaroslav Filip remains one of the most important personalities of the Slovak culture in the 20th century. His musical career spans more than three decades, and includes collaborations with several fellow artists. Since the 1970s, Filip joined comedians Lasica & Satinsky. Apart from many cabaret works, the trio is especially known for their album Bolo nás jedenásť. At the same time, he was also an integral part of Dežo Ursiny's band Provisorium, playing keyboards and piano on several recordings. Their cooperation lasted until Ursiny's death and final album Príbeh released in 1994. Since 1990s, Filip began working with Richard Müller. He wrote and produced many of Müller's greatest hits such as Cigaretka na dva ťahy or Milovanie v daždi. The two remained close friends until Filip's unexpected death in 2000. A man with an extraordinary range of activities, he was also one of the early pioneers of internet in Slovakia in 1990s. A heavy tobacco smoker for most of his life, Filip was known to spend countless late nights behind the computer screen. This passion is also reflected in one of his well-known songs, Cez okno, referencing the Windows operating system.
