"Lucifer" is a song by American rapper Jay-Z, track 12 off his 2003 album The Black Album. The song was produced by Kanye West, with an instrumental based on a sample from Max Romeo's "Chase the Devil." A documentary produced alongside the record had several scenes of Kanye playing beats for Jay, including Lucifer. This snippet shows Kanye writing the hook "I'm from the murder capital / Where we murder for capital." On the track the line was delivered by Jay-Z, whose home city of New York surrendered its status as America's "murder capital" many years ago to Kanye's home city of Chicago. West later used the line himself on "Murder to Excellence" by The Throne.
