I wonder how could I get almost 2k Insomnium scrobbles and completely bypass some of the awesome tracks from this album. What a shame

I don't know. I feel like trve Norwegian black metal has way worse sound quality.

What the fuck? How come is the quality bad? The quality doesn't have to do with the way it sounds, Blame mixing choices for that. And I still think that this album sounds amazing despite unconventional mixing

This has grown a lot... it was very good at the beginning but now... now it is one of the best albums I've ever heard.

For some unfathomable reason I couldn't get into this when I bought it. I'm listening to it now and wondering what the hell was wrong with me. It's incredible.

The best record Insomnium have ever made. Incredibly perfect. [3] Maybe even album of the year 2011. \m/

Yes, the vocals are a bit quieter in certain spots, but I do not think it is too severe, nor does it detract from the listening experience. Niilo's growling vocals have always melded with the atmosphere of the music, and I think they just went a little deeper at times due to the production. I disagree that the lyrics are hard to understand, but that is going to be a personal call no matter what. But overall I reiterate that there is nothing bad about the sound of the album if you're listening to quality tracks. Stay away from rips, buy the album; these guys deserve it.

The album's production quality sounds perfect to me in my headphones, and speakers. :/ The only little minor problems I hear are... some of the guitar leads are really high pitched over the other instruments in very minor spots, and the vocals are a tiny bit quieter in some areas, but not much though. aren't the vocals a bit too quiet in comparison to the guitars? thus it's very hard to understand the lyrics... they are louder on their previous records...

If you are going to listen to a metal album make it this one. The down-load from Amazon UK comes with the lyrics that should be read. Melancholy in the grand sense with vocal growls and singing blended with melodic guitars that could tear the hear from you. The last fm page allows for snippets to be heard but that won't do it justice. There is not a weak track on it. Even if you are not metal consider this music!! Metal Up ~ TanGenT {\/vv\/}

I think I have listened to the album enough times now to say that it is in fact fantastic. There's something a little different about the production, sure, but I've never listened to Insomnium for their 'production value'. I listen for the music, and this entry has Insomnium written all over it. I have always refused to pick a 'favorite' album, because of how consistently great they have been, and this album is no different. Not a bad song on it. Music is lucky to have these guys.

What an amazing album. I didn't think they would be able to top Across the Dark quite honestly, boy was I wrong.
