While I'm still admittedly not huge on this vocal style they use, their frontman puts on a hell of a live show, super tight shows!

Funny that the vocalist at times sounds like an angry Binyah Binyah from Gullah Gullah Island!

New song is WAYYYY better than Eyes of Boundless Black. Hopefully that one was a one-off thing. Tainted Pact sounds like what I expect from Inferi--constant riffage, balls to the wall. Stevie's vocals also sound like they've improved especially the highs

Not into Eyes of Boundless Black very much. A lot of chugging and just a few cool riffs. Which is weird considering they added the Equipoise guitarist who does all sorts of fun riffage. Hopefully it's one of those things where bands will do weird standalone singles

Well he did a great job on Tainted Pact, that song is much more what I expect from Inferi. Sometimes bands just have little experimental singles when the song doesn't fit right on an album. I think that's what Boundless Black was

Don't get me wrong, the guy is an awesome guitar player, I love Equipoise and Greylotus I enjoy too and, on top of that, Inferi hasn't let me down so far, I am still looking forward to whatever they put out, just didn't like that song at all. Not a knock on Sanjay (I believe that's his name) or the rest of Inferi.

New single absolutely blows how can a band that released The Path of Apotheosis devolve into such deathcore crap.

Couldn't agree more, didn't want to say anything on the official FB group (Promethean Kings). "Devolution" is quite literally the correct term being applied here: metal - > deathcore transition. Then we have the opposite with Shadow of Intent - their latest LP is a big step in the right direction IMO, little to no breakdowns or 'core nonsense, just decent, slightly overproduced "symphonic" DM (but great fun overall). I am literally an Inferi simp by the way, I have all their LP variants including the signed first press of Path of Apotheosis. I love these guys but I think modern tech death has a tad too many deathcore elements that just leave this awful taste in your mouth in an otherwise fantastic album (The Faceless' first two LPs are prime examples). People equate Lorna Shore to actual DM these days, such is the decline of our culture. I've even heard them referred to as "blackened death/doom" by an actual human IRL...Yeah ok, LS definitely gives off early Runemagick vibes right?

Edit: I found the second single (Tainted Pact) to be great and just saw 'em last Saturday with First Fragment/Summoning the Lich/Tomarum - it was an excellent show and highly encourage everyone to go see them during their first ever headlining tour (if I'm not mistaken). All great dudes as usual especially Stevie and Malcolm as usual. Forrest even signed my Beyond Creation Blood Music LPs - so nice of him. Also Dasein got an official repress by ULR and is now widely available in person and online. I kind of regret the above comment in hindsight since it's based on one single track - I cannot possibly make that kind of judgement until hearing the full LP at the very least.

солидные мелодичные гитародрочеры так называемой новой волны технодэта, ровные альбомы. Перезаписанный The End of an Era даже больше оригинала понравился.

Outstanding band. Every record has something special about it and they continue to evolve with each one that they put out.

There's three out of seven Inferi artists that are prominent on here. What about the other four? Who are they? I only know the American melodic death metal band and I've scrobbled them less than 100 times. I find them to be okay at best, I never really got into them that much. I don't totally remember what they sound like since I haven't listened to them in a while, but if I'm not mistaken... do they incorporate neoclassical metal/shred metal in their music?

I swear every listen I notice new little variations on riffs Inferi added to Revenant. This composition is fucking unreal, masters of intense melody!

The Path of Apotheosis was nearly impossible to top, for me at least, and then comes the fucking Revenant. It's a perfect package: Great riffs, extremely satisfying drumming, killer and epic vocals, THE PRODUCTION and of course amazing guest artists. They really put their mind and heart to this album and i'm glad how good it turned out.

I hope they release a full dynamic range version at some point. Tech. death certainly gets a license for hyper-extreme mastering like this, I grant that more or less to death metal alone...but I'm getting admittedly tired of how brickwalling is just the go-to approach. Harder to actually focus on for long periods of time. The mix is absolutely incredible though, glad to hear the bass guitarist get such a prominent role. Really does a great job supporting the guitars and drums. I also find it interesting how they kept the symphonic parts super dynamic, to make sure people don't just tune out after a few tracks of hyper-loud metal. It's interesting how smashed in volume so many clean mixes like Revenant get. If they end up mastering more dynamically in the future, I think they might downright get called audiophile death metal, given how gorgeous it sounds despite the slammed volume.

You obviously know more about this than I do but I agree with your assessment. The bass comes through beautifully. I wish the guitar was a bit louder at times because it’s so beautifully composed but that’s a minor grievance in an otherwise killer album.

I mean, the album is basically the best example of how to do crystal clear sensory abuse. I won't take that away from them, the intense loudness is very intentional and a fair stylistic choice for extreme metal.
