The new album is great! I love how every In Vain record is a little bit different, but still has the same core sound. Every song seems simple but is actually fairly complex. You have to peel back the layers like the rind of an orange to get at the progressive goodness beneath. Every listen is a slightly different and enjoyable experience.

I have been aware of In Vain for some time but never got around to looking into them. I finally changed that with the new album and they are fantastic. They dip into so many different genres without really being chained to any of them. Their ambiguous sound allows them some more freedom to explore different sounds. It’s glossy and “pretty sounding” but with serious substance and songwriting chops. New album is easily top 3 for 2024 imo.

I sure hope the album is better as a whole. I'm not feeling the first 2 singles.

There's an F-bomb on one of the songs...apparently that means the whole album is explicit! I noticed Last.fm did this with another band recently. Maybe it's pulled from Spotify?

We need a new album! Definitely one of the most underrated metal bands out there right now!

How did i ever forget about this band? Aenigma is gorgeous and it proves the band has a unique style that is definitely their own. I need to rediscover their other albums.

For some reason I gave up on them after the release of the last album .. (Mostly because I heavily dislike Matthew Heafy's singing and seeing him on the tracklist gave me a bad feeling). But now I finally gave the album a real shot and they keep on releasing great material actually!

They are more of a Melodic Black/Death Metal than being a "just Prog Death/Black"

Melodic black/death would be like Dissecion, Unanimated, Sacramentum, Necrophobic, etc.

I think Currents isn't their best work.. Still really enjoyable and the deluxe version makes it a better experience in total imo

Brilliant band, seriously. Till this world has bands like In Vain, metal will be staying alive.

Бля, я в метале уже пять лет, и думал, что меня уже ничем не удивить... но тут я послушал In Vain... чертовски приятно осознавать, что я ошибался.
