Biography
On November 1995, Iman Ismar who’s on his first semester majoring in music at Institut Kesenian Jakarta (IKJ – Jakarta Institute of The Arts), establish a music group with I Putu Gede Prawita (Tude) whom is also a music student at IKJ. Then they named this group “Fortissimo”. They also ask George who took percussion as his major to joining them. On May ’96 they add other personnel; they are Joko Widodo (acoustic guitar) and Leodet (keyboard). By the end of ’96, Fortissimo who played their own instrumental music changed some of their personnel. Then George replaced by Taufan, and Joko resigned from the group. With the personnel Iman, Tude, Leodet and Taufan, Fortissimo changed their name to “Ouverture”. Almost two years after, on October ’98, Tude got resigned from the group and was replaced by Ponco Satrio. But, by the end of November, Ouverture is dismissed.
On the early ’98, Iman met Turi (guitar) who is a fine art student at IKJ, and then establish a music group called “Pendulum”. Ouverture drummer, taufan has been joining this group for a while but then he resigned. Drummer position was also placed by Masami for a while. Then on November ’98 we found a gifted drummer, Michael, whom is taking percussion as his major at IKJ. With three personnel, Pendulum began to perform in many places playing progressive music. But then on March 2000, Iman resigned from Pendulum.
On April ’01, Iman ask Ponco Satrio, Michael “Pendulum” and Joy “marantika” (keyboard) to establish “Siklus” and we also played progressive music. But then Siklus didn’t exist for along time. On September, Iman ask Ponco again, Putra prayoga, a percussion student at IKJ, and Ronald Poetiray, a music composition student at IKJ to establish “IMANISSIMO”. On October ’01, “Imanissimo” is performing their début concert at Taman Ismail Marzuki during an event called ‘Festival Cikini IKJ’. By the next month, Imanissimo has become a guest star on ‘Festival Sincere Music’, at Atmajaya University. Then after being introduced to the head of Indonesian Progressive Society (IPS), Mr. Andy Julias by Turi “Pendulum”, Imanissimo got an offer to perform on a routine progressive event called ProgNite by February ’02. Audiences responses are quite positive, and then Imanissimo perform on the event Indonesian Progressive society, JakArt@2002, Virtuoso Night Concert IKJ and Pekan Raya Jakarta (Jakarta Fair). On April ’02 Imanissimo also release an indie album which consists six instrumental composition.
Then Imanissimo got a recording offer from Andy Julias. Recording process was stuck for quite a long time because all of the personnel are busy with their activities, where Iman also making music for dances and theatres, Ponco with his final assignment, Putra with his study and Ronald who has to go out of town for few months with his TopForty band. So then the recording process was continued fifteen months later, which is the end of September. By the end of October ’03, Imanissimo also perform on the launching of PRS Records, which is a cooperative recording label between Indonesian Progressive Society and Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia.
A year later, Ronald was resigned because of his activities outside Imanissimo, and then his position was replaced by Charlie Hidayat, and then Imanissimo’s recording process and production has been completely done. With the release of our album “Z’s Diary” which is produced by Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia, Imanissimo expects to add a different colour on Indonesia’s music, and also to the international music world. But now the guitar position has been replaced by Jordan, a student at Atmajaya University, because their former guitarist, Ponco Satrio is continuing his music study in the United States. Now Charlie replaced by R. Agung H. whom studied at IKJ as Classical guitar student.
As time goes by, Imanissimo is now planning and gathering the materials for the making of our third album which they also hope can be enjoyed by those who haven’t really used to progressive music. They hope with the support of many peoples, especially by the progressive community around the world, Progressive music will be more welcomed all over the world.
