David helped Iggy. He would have died in New York from drugs, alkohol and a big worm in his soul. David took his hand and said. I want you to be born again. Don't look into the past. Look to the future. I'll hold you 'till you stay on your own two feet! This album is first try. Please forgive him. He created many good music later in his life. We visited him and his band in some concerts in the 1980s. We were all shouting: ''You will do it, you have something to say''

So mechanical and robotic, while its successor, "Lust For Life", is so full of life and vigor. Although they're so different from each other, I feel that they're inseparable, you can't have one without the other.

I like the album and songs overall. The production on most songs here is just painful though, especially the vocal recording quality. It's so muddy and it's so hard to make things out. And I don't think it's because of the technological limitations of the time - Bowie's Heroes and Low sound pretty good. But here the vocals are just so damn clipped. Is this an issue with only some re-releases/remasters or the original releases sounded like that too? Anyone knows?

There was no shortage of great recording equipment in 1976 (when it was recorded). Many great albums from that era (and even earlier) still sound great to this day. I think the issue here lies in budget restraints as Iggy had just been re-signed after years of industry neglect (nobody wanted "Kill City" in 1975, for instance). Iggy most certainly didn't get as much studio time as Bowie. Maybe not as good equipment either. Could also be that Iggy wanted to maintain that raw proto-punk edge to his music, especially the way he sings and screams. Every version I've heard had the same kind of rough sound, with the exception of some remaster being overly compressed (making it clip even more). I think vinyl is the best way to go with this album. I heard some 2017 vinyl reissue is supposed to be pretty damn good actually, but I doubt it makes it sound more polished in any way.

Ian Curtis played this in his last hours, before suicide. The album itself is very rough, in a good way!

Essential album. Makes a great companion piece to Bowie's "Berlin Trilogy" and any of the Eno albums of the period, in particular Before and After Science.

Ian Curtis is reported to have listened to this album before killing himself. Interesting choice.

I find this album is pretty similar in mood/atmosphere to Peter Hammill's "A Black Box". I like to listen to them both on the same day.

Put David Bowie's amazing production and songwriting skills and Iggy's perfect poetry and unique voice on the same record, and you have one of the best albums ever. Are there any chances for a third collaboration? It would be epic.
