ILL ZOO - is not a project or a lable, it’s not even a band. ILL ZOO is a musical organism, feed by different persons connected with each other regardless of their tastes in music. All these people got love for music (their tastes maintain from well-known classic material to deep experimental). When ILL ZOO needs food for thought, they gather together.
In 2008 ILL ZOO DJs took third place in the battle of the beatmakers from post-USSR area. Beatmakers from ILL ZOO FAM got acquainted with hip-hop by listening golden age rap. But soon they got tired from pure jazz and funk soul. So it was the time when ILL ZOO DJs have started to make experiments with different genres and styles.
ILL ZOO DJs are known for using live instruments like keys, guitar, bass-guitar on the one side and present time technologies of music industry like drum machines on the other. In common ILL ZOO DJs’ music don’t need vocalists because it got vibe of it’s own and it’s heartbeat.
ILL ZOO DJs don’t got one genre. One may consider them as an alternative rap, another - as funk.
These musicians respect vintage black music but at the same time they look forward. That’s why you can hear concepts and some compilations of tracks.
The motto of ILL ZOO is: «no matter what’s outside, it’s important what’s inside».
