Sorry but this is really bad. His vocals are terrible and the productions are unpolished and uninspiring. Got drawn to his music for his collab with Shlohmo but I highly regret wasting my time with this. Honestly I don’t know why he’s so popular.

if you want everything you listen to to have polished production, that's your problem. HTDW has some beautiful tracks.

What happened to the tags? He never composed lo fi, experimental, electronic, ambient (expect ambient pop, but this is another story) or psychedelic (ahahaha) music. He is R&B artist with dream pop, art pop and chamber pop influences.

I am not think that these tags are completely wrong. I am just surprised they come first.

'The Anteroom' is such an amazing grower! I was first pissed off by seemingly too many of "unpleasant" sounds, but I cannot find them anywhere anymore. And the whole flow is just so smooth and violent and cozy and rough.

holy fucking wow Anteroom is truly weird and wonderful and the best thing since Total Loss if not ever he's done.

Same with me! Care was quite a letdown for the vibe it was going for, but there's a lot to be discovered on repeat listens with this new one. Woohoo Tom!

I will say What Is This Heart was pretty stellar, bigger production and some really great melodies that weren't really all about mood and atmosphere ... but Care was a total dropping of the ball completely. Love Remains is still at the top of my list for his discography, but hopefully he recapture a little bit of that older magic with this new one. Seems really weird.

Pretend that you don't know who's singing and you will think about Usher, Justin Timberlake... Not that it's bad, but isn't the direction I expected Tom to go

"The Ruins" is a great track, but the rest are totally insipid, like really meh... Disappointed, again

Whoa. Welp...I was right in a way, I don't think the direction didn't really suit him for a full album. "Care" is full of obvious production and missing of any the unique characteristics that filled his music for his previous three albums. It's a much more polished, "happier" record with songs that sound like it really could've come anyone else. I think we all saw an album like this coming down the road, but man...this is EASILY his most underwhelming album.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, he basically confirmed this would be his most "playful" and "joy" record and you can really get a sense of that with these singles. They're good, because Tom's voice is so great and the dude has an ear for melody and production but the lighthearted/sunshine tone miiiiiight be a direction that I'm not as entirely a fan of since it draws a lot of comparisons to his peers, but of course we'll have to see when the record comes out!
