Biography

There are at least 4 different Bands or Artists that have gone by the name: Homeland.

1)5-piece progressive hardcore band from the Northern suburbs of Adelaide, Australia.

2) Not to be confused with the american folkrock band, HOMELAND is the alias of Mikael Carlsson. Mikael formed Homeland in 1998 in hometown Malmö, Sweden, after been playing with local indie rockers Ogden Flood. In 1999 Homeland released the debut album Songs About Living which was rereleased in 2004 by the Australian record company Cumbersome. The member line-up has changed ever since live performing became natural but Mikael still remains as the head figure. Homeland has shared stage with the likes of My Morning Jacket, Songs: Ohia, Halifax Pier, David and the Citizens, South San Gabriel and even toured Sweden together with Richard Buckner. Homeland songs can also be found on various compilation albums, such as Fork Series' "Independent Sweden" and Misplaced Music's "Misplaced Pets". New songs (produced 2006) may be found on the following sites. Homeland is the bandname and Homelandhome is the factory (studio/office/whatever). Mikael also used to play drums in David and the Citizens between 1999-2006.

4) An early band featuring future leader of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Anton Newcombe. They have one song "Eleven Is Waiting" released on a compilation called 'Ultraviolet' which is "covering the LA dark/psych/joy-division-influenced scene of the mid/late 80s."
