Misdemeanors?
So, what's the crime in paying dues to your old heroes?
Well, some small-minded folks were obviously upset by the debut album, 'Hymns in the key of 666', that saw the misty three-piece from Gothenburg/Sweden doing their unique and entertaining takes on metal classics.

Fortunately, they had the cheek to do it again, though 'Minor Misdemeanors' will surely continue to raise some eyebrows here and there. But that's a good thing according to the Hellsingers themselves since good music will always get people in touch with their feelings, be they joy or anger.

So what's to expect then?

Well, basically it's still your dear Scandinavian lounge metal heroes you'll - once again - find here. For the first time Mrs. Bergnéhrs powerful and evocative vocals (which by now have fuelled over 150 Hellsongs live shows) are captured 'on tape'.
This combined with a wider array of instruments and (tatadadatadataaa!) the - first ever - original Hellsongs composition makes the new album an irresistible collection of songs. Minor Misdemeanors is mostly held in major key. The tempo is generally sped up compared to its predecessor, adding to the euphoric quality of the songs. This time around you'll also be informed of the importance of being true to your friends, something that Pantera pointed out already in '92 and how Skid Row explains the logic behind misfit kids and their behavior. Societal issues and metal have often been closely connected lyrically. This is illustrated in the horn powered version of 'School's out' and in the epic take of Slayer’s 'Skeletons of Society'.

Hellsongs - unbelievable as this may sound - have become heavily courted by all different kinds of police forces, while on the road. The Bavarian police is one favorite, the Italian carabinieri and the Ontario Troopers another. Smuggling refugees, transporting drugs, speeding - the accusations have been plenty and quite imaginative, indeed!

It feels unnecessary to state that in this case, as in the musical, we're at the most talking about minor misdemeanors.

Driving the car, rearranging a classic or playing live – it's all treated with the same attitude by Hellsongs: Lots of fun and loads of love.
