The rerecording of IOYWL was okay, but I stand by that what made that album special was its production. There's this almost atmospheric and dreamy feeling around all of it with the use of subtle synths and heavier reverb. It's not as technical musically as the first album, but what I mentioned makes up for it. Anyway, I'm not sure if jt has an at home studio he did these at or if it's just a smaller studio, but it's missing the oomf in production. Also, he sounds like he is imitating his old vocals rather than just singing naturally and the guy doing the screaming sounds to exaggerated. It was still cool to hear I guess, but I'll never choose it over the ogs.

It's good, but check out From Ohio With Love. It has more of its own sound imo.

This shit album is so formulaic. There is no personality in any of these songs. This band peaked at IOYWL. Does JT even like writing music anymore? He should just stick with playing Ohio is for Lovers at emo nites for his drunk 15 year old fans.

They do a short power chord progression or pick it, then they play the same thing palm muted or just stripped down to bass, the guy who is trying to emulate casey lets out his crackley RAHH scream, then they do an uninspired chorus, etc over and over. I'm not going to say these guys were ever technical, but the song writing in SIBAW and IOYWL were much more interesting and the atmosphere in the latter was top notch. I think the lack or personality in the production doesn't help either considering everything sound really thin in the latest release. Surprisingly it seems like Micah's guitar wankery leads actually added something to the band that they can't get back. JT should just change the band name at this point.

Of course I did listen to everything they've released so far already, even their first demo LP they've put out under their old band name "A Day In The Life". It's just my opinion so no need for sarcastic replies, but my personal ranking about all of their LPs would be: 1. The Silence In Black and White 2. The Rain Just Follows Me 3. If Only You Were Lonely 4. Fragile Future 5. Skeletons 6. Bad Frequencies 7. Zero

the re-recording of 'This Is Who We Are' sounds like the demo for the original version, i dunno how they are gonna top that records recording, its soo polished and holds up after all these years. the recording on the new version doesn't have the same punch whatsoever.

My only issue with it is that their execution of screaming only sounds good when it's heavily produced. The "raw" recording sounds like someone burping. Other than that, I actually really like the new mix. Especially with how prevalent the bass is.

agreed man, silverstein did something similar too. why re record your songs with worse production than the original? i dont get it, maybe they're down bad for money lol

its because streaming is so relevant these days, they want the streaming royalties and if they release the new recordings they get the profits and not the label which was victory records and now is concord music group. but i thought redux 1 & 2 sounded pretty damn good for silverstein! especially the WBIEF & DTW tracks, but thats me! i listen to the re-recording of "Your Sword Vs. My Dagger" ALOT!

I only like their first two albums, never understood why they go into the generic pop rock direction after Casey's death.

no they didn't maybe on fragile future because he had just passed away but not on skeletons or anything after. i revisited fragile future not long ago and it's catchy as fuck! i wasn't that into it when it first came out, but there are a lot of solid jams on it!

This band epitomized an entire sound and scene of their own. Makes sense they're still around bc the classics endure.

"Real Emo" ⚠ only consists of the dc Emotional 😭 Hardcore 😎 scene and the late 90's Screamo 😱 scene. What is known by "Midwest Emo" 🤓 is nothing but Alternative Rock 👙 with questionable 🙊 real emo influence. When people try to argue 🤼 that bands like My Chemical Romance 🗑 are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate ⛅ is, I can't help not to cringe 🤢 because they are just as fake emo 💅 as My Chemical Romance ☠ (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC 💡 , POWERFUL 💃 and somewhat HATEFUL😡 . Fake emo is weak 😚 , self pity 🤰 and a failed attempt ⬇ to direct energy 💥 and emotion 😰 into music. Some examples of REAL EMO 💯 are Pg 99 🔊 , Rites of Spring 💌 , Cap n Jazz 💽 (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta 🌋 . Some examples of FAKE EMO 🤑 are American Football 🏚 , My Chemical Romance💀 and Mineral🐣 EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE 🦈 NOT TO INDIE 🎉 , POP PUNK💰 , ALT ROCK🥒 OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM🛒 GENRE

LMAO This post is wrong. 'Pg.99' and 'Loma Prieta' are "Real Screamo" not "Emo".

No. Screamo bands and Emo bands sound totally different from each other. Even if you don't want to admit it 'Screamo' exists, and is just another 'Hardcore Punk' subgenre as 'Emo'. The 'Real' term is only to specify the "truer" bands.
