Biography

  • Born

    1 June 1982 (age 42)

  • Born In

    London, England, United Kingdom

Born with musical talent implanted in his genes and a passion for dancing, it was only a matter of time before the Urban Desi scene sat up and took note of H Dhami. Although he is the son of the legendary Palvinder Dhami, who was the lead singer of Bhangra group Heera, H is definitely forging his own identity in the industry.

For starters he’s the first artist signed to star producer Rishi Rich’s new production company and has already performed at dozens of events worldwide, having only released the album teaser track, ‘Heeriyeh’. Intrigued?… Well let us take you inside the world of H Dhami.

Although H has performed with his father since he was a child, he tells his us his first love was bhangra dancing. In fact, he says his father had to force him to sing when he was young. However, luckily H soon changed his mind as he began performing at functions, and it was through one of those performances that he met the man that would change his life forever… Rishi Rich. Rishi saw H perform at a function and a month later he approached him about signing onto Rishi Rich Productions. H says, “It was a big shock to me, having an established producer like Rishi sign me.” Through this opportunity H hopes to prove he’s out to do something different and not just your typical bhangra album.

H’s first official single, party track, ‘Sadkeh Jaavan’ gives listeners a taste of just what’s to come in the next few months. The video for the single has already been shot and you can check for the exclusive full video on November 1st at Desi Hits. H tells us you can expect a totally different sound on his album, “Not all the tracks are bhangra, we have slow jams, Desi stuff, RnB, all sorts. We cater for everyone.” And with Rishi Rich as the producer you can expect some bangin collaborations which include, Mumzy, Chaya, Juggy D and yes even H’s father Palvinder.

H's album is set to release in early 2008, followed with tours across the world. With success right around the corner, he remains grounded and realistic about the future. “We’re at a level that we’re still crossing boundaries. There’s a lot more we can do.” You can definitely check for H, as the “next generation in British Asian singers!”
