GUITARO was formed by Mark Wiebe, Jeremy Unrau, Heather Warkentin and Jeremy Epp in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada in 1997. In the Spring of 1998 they laid down tracks for still unreleased EP at CDIS in Burnaby. The EP was in part, to fulfill some of Mark's course requirements. After that initial recording, GUITARO moved to Winnipeg where they began work on their live element, wrote new material began work on a full-length album. The result was 'Futura Black' released in June 2002. From that point fans and critics began to characterize GUITARO as a second wave shoegaze act. Live performances in Vancouver in 2003, garnered them a 'Best New Act' of 2003 (music) nod in Vancouver's Georgia Straight. In 2004 work began on another full length record and has taken six years to come to fruition. 'JJ's Crystal Palace' is set for release in September 2010.
